Golden Dragon ASTAR Autonomous Driving Buses Start Trial Operation in Xiamen

17 September 2020

On September 16, Golden Dragon ASTAR autonomous driving buses started trial operation on bus route No.400. One of the biggest highlights of the bus route is that passengers can make reservations and get on/off STAR buses at virtual bus stations.

With a particularly eye-catching appearance, ASTAR autonomous driving bus drives a speed of 20 km/h. Despite a bus driver sitting in the driver’s cockpit, he does not need to do any operations. The bus itself performs a series of complex tasks, such as changing lanes, stopping and starting up at the traffic light, and avoiding other vehicles and pedestrians.

According to Golden Dragon, ASTAR autonomous driving bus is equipped with 21 radars and dozens of cameras. By processing the data collected by these radars and cameras, the bus achieves high autonomy.

In July this year, ASTAR autonomous driving buses, which reach a maximum speed of 50 km/h, were also put into trial operation in Suzhou, providing greener and more convenient transportation services for local citizens.
