King Long & JD Logistics to Jointly Develop Low-speed Autonomous Driving Logistic Vehicles

10 September 2020

On September 8, on the opening day of the 22nd China International Fair of Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held in Xiamen, Fujian province, King Long officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with JD Logistics. According to the agreement, the two parties will work more closely to develop low-speed autonomous driving logistic vehicles and promote their commercialization.

On the same day, King Long and JD Logistics revealed their latest product, DIDO autonomous driving logistic vehicle, which is particularly targeted at the last-mile delivery service market in urban communities. With a streamlined body structure, DIDO is surely an eye-catcher.

Equipped with L4-level autonomous driving technologies, the vehicle is highly intelligent and is able to load goods with a size of 2.25 cubic meters. Before delivering goods to customers, it will send messages to them. When it arrives at the customers’ designated venues, customers only need to type in the order number to get their purchases made online. Compared with traditional delivery, one of the biggest advantage of DIDO is that it can work tirelessly around the clock.

With the continuing robust growth of China’s e-commerce, human-free delivery is gaining increasing popularity. When COVID-19 epidemic broke out in Wuhan earlier this year, JD delivery robots arrived in the city and provided human-free delivery services for over 100 days.
