Foton, Toyota and SinoHytec to Jointly Launch Fuel Cell Buses

23 April 2019

Foton, Toyota and Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as SinoHytec) recently reached an agreement. According to their agreement, the three parties will jointly develop fuel cell buses. In addition, fuel cell buses manufactured by Foton will be equipped with some spare parts from Toyota and SinoHytec.

Foton’s first generation fuel cell buses were put into service at Beijing Olympic Games. In 2016, it won an order of 100 units fuel cell buses. In 2014, its second generation fuel cell buses measuring 12 meters in length greatly cut their production costs and improved their battery life span. In 2016, its third generation 8.5-meter fuel cell buses realized commercial operation. In 2018, the world’s first batch of fuel cell city buses started operation in Zhangjiakou.

In just a decade, Foton has made a number of technological breakthroughs in the emerging field. Boasting a number of advanced technologies, Foton’s fourth generation fuel cell bus achieves unprecedented safety standards. After a refill of hydrogen in 10-15 minutes, it is able to drive over 450 kilometers continuously. Even in extreme weather conditions with temperatures dropping to minus 30 degree Celsius, it can still work smoothly.

Statistics show that Foton has already sold 190 units fuel cell buses with a combined mileage of over three million kilometers. Having stood the test of time, it has served a number of high-profile events across the globe.

By cooperating with Toyota and SinoHytec, Foton is determined to promote hydrogen powered vehicles across the globe and usher in a new era of transportation.
