On August 30, Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Golden Dragon) signed a sales agreement with Sierra Leone for providing 200 units city buses and intercity buses to the country to improve the country’s public transport system.

Located in west Africa, Sierra Leone was once a colony of Britain. It gained its independence in 1961 and officially established diplomatic ties with China in 1971. Known for its mining industry, especially diamond mining, Sierra Leone established comprehensive strategic cooperative ties with China in December, 2016. On April 4, 2018, Julius Maada Bio became the new president of Sierra Leone. And the new administration put the improvement of the country’s public well-fare and transport networks as its top priorities. Not long after the new president came into power, the administration made the decision to buy 200 units city buses and intercity buses to better the public transport networks in the country’s capital city Freetown and its neighbouring areas.
