China Bus Industry Recorded 47.08 Billion RMB in Sales Revenue from January to August

27 November 2019

From January to August, China’s bus industry recorded a sales revenue of 47.08 billion RMB, up by 10.7% year on year. In the same period, China sold 111,099 units buses measuring 5-meter and above in length, down by -2.7% year on year.

In August, China sold 14,267 units buses with a total sales revenue of 5.39 billion RMB. Though the monthly sales volume dropped by 2.7% year on year, the monthly sales revenue grew by 2.1% year on year.

With the withdrawal of the subsidizing policies for the new energy city buses on August 7, the sales of new energy buses peaked in July and then slide to the lowest point in August.

The sales of buses & coaches for passenger and tourist transportation registered a downward movement in recent years with no signs of recovery. Although the impact of the high-speed rails on China’s land transportation has gradually become less felt, a growing number of private cars and the fast expanding car-hailing services pose huge challenges for coaches and buses.

With the absence of any favorable policies, the sales of school buses has been growing at an anemically slow pace.
